Zoe Saldana has always looked slender in her hit films Avatar and the new Avengers: Infinity War.

But in the June issue of Women’s Health magazine, the actress – who turns 40-years-old in June – said she used to be very ‘strict’ with her diet.

And only now has she learned to start enjoying food. ‘When I was younger, I was more strict. I felt I needed to control that part of my life in order to feel I was going to be successful at something – because we often equate success with our physical beauty. It’s so f***ed up!’ said the big screen diva.

Exercise has also been helpful with keeping her balanced. And these days she is dancing her way thin.

‘I love having that kind of intimacy with my body and getting my body to do things I never thought I could do,’ said Zoe.

She also wants to stay in shape for her three kids, Zen, aged one, and twins Cy and Bowie, aged three.

‘I like feeling that I’m giving myself – my body, my spirit, my mind – the attention it needs,’ said Saldana.

And they keep her going: ‘My boys are a constant source of strength for me. They keep me on my toes, reminding me how much I still have to learn and grow as a person.’

A lot of her happiness comes from her husband of five years Marco Perego: ‘I have the most perfect partner in my life. I’ve never met a male like my husband, who believes any woman is naturally his equal.’

As far as her massive success, she wants to keep the momentum going.

‘There’s this sense of responsibility to keep growing. You sort of go, “I can’t drop the ball.” So I’m always pushing really hard,’ said the New Jersey native.

'I have been the victim of exclusion, of being considered "other," and that sucks,' said the cover girl

She also talked about being discriminated against because she is a Latina.

‘I have been the victim of exclusion, of being considered “other,” and that sucks,’ said the cover girl.

And Zoe also said it’s time for an all-female superhero film.

She recently did a Marvel Studios photo shoot with Tessa Thompson, Brie Larson, and Scarlett Johansson.

‘We were getting to know each other, and it became this lovefest. We started feeling bolder, braver, and super inspired, and it was decided: Marvel should have all-female-cast movies!’ said the red carpet queen.

‘The energy came from connecting with each other, from being fearless and saying, “You know, we’re going to talk about what we truly feel,” versus staring each other down like we’ve always been encouraged to do as women. And it is important that we have an all-female movie. Our girls need it. Our boys need it. We need it!’

Zoe is currently shooting Avata 2 and 3. She is also slated to be in Avatar 4 and 5.
