The ‘I Am Elizabeth Smart’ producers will develop and co-produce content for the indie studio.
Veteran unscripted producers Joseph Freed and Allison Berkley of Marwar Junction Productions have signed a first TV deal and multiyear development pact with Entertainment One.
The prolific producers of Lifetime’s I Am Elizabeth Smart and AMC Visionaries: Eli Roth’s History of Horror will develop and co-produce unscripted content for the indie studio. Freed and Berkley launched their Marwar Junction banner in 2012.
More recently, they produced A&E’s documentary anthology Autobiography and the weekly pop-culture gossip series Bossip on WE tv. Freed and Berkley previously launched and produced Syfy’s Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge, a reality competition series from the Jim Henson Company.
“We are thrilled to partner with Joseph and Allison. Their experience and track record of successful series reflects their ongoing commitment to quality content and we look forward to collaborating closely with them on exciting new projects,” Tara Long, eOne’s executive vp of alternative programming, television, said Friday in a statement.
“Joseph and I are delighted to be working with the exceptional team at eOne,” Berkley said in her own statement. Freed also executive produces Little People, Big World for TLC.
He launched his career at Entertainment Tonight, and first worked with Berkley on the syndicated talk show Rachael Ray, which brought them both Daytime Emmy nominations. Freed also earned back-to-back Emmy Awards for outstanding talk show in 2008 and 2009.
eOne‘s alternative programming slate includes Death Row Chronicles for BET, Siesta Key for MTV and The Hollywood Puppet Sh!t Show from executive producer Wilmer Valderrama for Fuse.
