Upcoming series “” seemingly will feature Dick Grayson, Starfire and the rest of the nascent superhero team fighting against a bad guy from outside the Teen Titans Universe. reports that the teenage heroes will face off against Acolyte, a villain featured in “Young Justice”, as their first villain on the series.

The site further explains that Acolyte is described as a confident African-American male with age between 40-50 years old. The casting description continues, “The villain of our story. He is after Rachel and her powers, trying to kidnap her after he murders her mother.”

The show is also poised to feature Angela, Rachel’s “adoptive” mother. The character is further described as a female around 40-50 who gets killed in an attempt to kidnap Rachel.

Debuted in “Young Justice” #9 in 1999, Acolyte is rather a less-known DC Comics villain as he had limited appearance in the comic books. Acolyte is depicted in a devilish appearance, complete with blue skin and horns. However, it turned out that he was actually a mentally-disturbed human wearing a disguise, though his actual identity is unknown. His plans included replacing God and resurrecting a Hindu goddess.

The casting notice also gives a hint at what direction the upcoming live-action “Teen Titans” series will be taking Rachel a.k.a. Raven (Teagan Croft) in. Fans assume that Raven, the daughter of a human mother and a powerful demon named Trigon, is living a normal life on Earth until Acolyte appears before her. It seems like Raven will discover her true power and heritage after the disheartening event which costs the life of Angela.

Released as a part of a DC-branded digital service which will be launched in 2018, “Titans” is written by Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman, Arrowverse mastermind Greg Berlanti and DC Films and comic icon Geoff Johns. Production is slated to kick off this month in Atlanta, Georgia. Its exact release date hasn’t been announced, but “Titans” is set to arrive in 2018.
