They divorced in October 2009, with relations between the pair hitting an all-time low in December 2011 as they battled it out in court over defamation claims.
And it has now been reported that Peter Andre is attempting to make the £90,245 he spent in legal bills while battling with ex-wife Katie Price tax deductible.
According to The Sun, the father-of-four has claimed that when he took Katie to court for making defamatory statements about him he was protecting his celebrity image, as well as his reputation as a good parent.

Taxing situation: Peter Andre is trying to make the more than £90,000 he spent in a 2011 defamation suit against his ex-wife Katie Price tax deductible, according to The Sun
However, the newspaper reports that the HMRC has stated the money should not be considered tax deductible, given that ‘a clear purpose of the legal expenses was to safeguard the appellant’s relationship with his children, which cannot be for any business purpose.
‘A second purpose was to protect the appellant’s reputation which cannot “necessarily be a wholly business purpose”.
‘Furthermore a stated object of the claim to damages is personal in nature and there is no reason why the legal costs should be separated from the damages they were expended to secure.’
Exes: Pete had hit Katie with the suit after she alleged that he’d cheated on her and didn’t love her son Harvey the way that he cared for his two biological children with the former model
Sources close to Peter – who is said to be worth around £11 million – insist that he will respect the outcome of the HMRC’s imminent final decision on the matter, after he and his lawyers had appealed the initial ruling.
MailOnline has contacted a representative for Peter Andre for comment.
After the former couple’s court battle, Katie agreed to pay an undisclosed amount of libel damages to Peter, over claims that he was unfaithful to her and that he didn’t love his stepson Harvey as much as he said he did.
Meanwhile the former spouses have both moved on with their lives, with Peter marrying Emily in July, while Katie tied the knot with Kieran in 2013.
Moved on: Katie is now married to Kieran Hayler, with whom she also has two children. They’re pictured with Katie and Peter’s children Princess and Junior
Notably, the exes’ relationship has now been mended to the point that Katie has publicly heaped praise on Peter on several occasions.
During an interview with Reveal magazine in September, the mother-of-five – who shares two children with Peter – revealed that she was ‘obsessed’ with her husband.
Katie said of her first marriage to Pete, who she met on reality show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here: ‘I didn’t want to leave him at all. I was obsessed with him. I loved him. It destroyed me – it took years and years.’
The one in between: Katie was also briefly married to Alex Reid after her divorce from Peter
Of her subsequent relationships with second husband Alex Reid and Argentine model Leandro Penna, Katie added: ‘Then I met Alex – bad mistake. Met Leo… they were all just trying to fill a gap.’
Meanwhile, Katie admitted to Closer around the same time that she hoped to have a sit down chat with ex-husband Peter about the breakdown in their relationship.
She said: ‘Pete and I have never had a proper chat about everything that happened. One day I want us to sit down together and be honest about it all. It’s all amicable right now. He’s got his life and I’ve got mine.’
Where there’s a will: Last month, Katie revealed that she had not yet taken Peter out of her will
