Does Peter Kraus still have a chance to be the new Bachelor after all? Series creator and executive producer Mike Fleiss sparks rumors that the 31-year-old Wisconsin native will star in the next season of “” with his series of tweets.

Mike previously in mid-August, “Do we really want a Bachelor who isn’t ready to settle down with a woman he loves? Hmmm. Not what #thebachelor is all about…” Fans speculated that the cryptic tweet was directed at Peter.

Mike, however, recently hinted at a “shocking announcement.” He wrote on Thursday, August 31, “Ok, SIT by for truly shocking news regarding #TheBachelor…”

He added later, “Hoping to make unbelievably shocking announcement today regarding #thebachelor. Waiting for final approval…”

No official announcement was made as of Friday though, prompting a curious fan to ask, “Anyone else curious as to why @GMA didn’t announce #TheBachelor this morning? Pulled their tweet as well. What has @fleissmeister done?”

Mike recently also tweeted, “Tv trivia… Has a broadcast network ever canceled its No. 1 show???” sparking speculation of a cancellation. In another cryptic tweet, he told fans, “Don’t worry, #BachelorNation …”

A source told about Peter’s chance to be the new Bachelor, “Peter is every ‘Bachelor’ producer’s worst nightmare: the perfect guy who cannot be coerced into proposing at the end. The fact that no one could talk Peter into buckling under and just giving her the ring – and that he wouldn’t play along – absolutely enraged the higher-ups at the show. Including Fleiss, definitely. He is totally on their s**t list forever.”

The insider added, “Even if they weren’t so mad, his unwillingness to play by the rules of the game has them afraid he’d be another Brad Womack or, worse, Juan Pablo [Galavis].”

Host Chris Harrison, meanwhile, weighed in on Peter’s issue, “I think his time with Rachel exposed some things in his life that he probably has to deal with and needs to handle before he’s ready to settle down. In no way does that make him a bad guy or not worthy. He may make a great Bachelor. It’s not like it’s completely off the table. But after seeing him be with Rachel, it didn’t give you that glowing feeling of, ‘Hey, this guy is ready for another chance at love.’ It would be really hard to spin that.”
