apologized for his blunder on the recent episode of his HBO show “”. The host , saying, “Work in the fields? Senator, I am a house n****r” when he was invited by Sen. Ben Sasse to join him on his farming field.

“Friday nights are always my worst night of sleep because I’m up reflecting on the things I should or shouldn’t have said on my live show,” the host said in a statement as he was flooded with backlash. “Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry.”

HBO previously stated, “Bill Maher’s comment last night was completely inexcusable and tasteless. We are removing his deeply offensive comment from any subsequent airings of the show.” But it apparently was not enough as called for the network to cut ties with the host. “Please @HBO Do Not Air Another Episode Of Real Time With Bill Maher,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Sasse said he cringed at the host’s attempt at jokes, but the video showed otherwise. He was caught on camera laughing along with the audience after Maher backtracked and raised both his hands while saying, “No it’s – it’s a joke.”
